Project description
Searching for this Picture is a project realized within the exhibition titled, “Following the Track of Wasted Time” with curators Svetlana Kuyumdjieva and Vyara Mlechevska. The main purpose and idea of the exhibition was to recreate the nostalgic memories of the invited young artists about the not so far-off socialist past. In his work Samuil Stoyanov interprets this subject based on a real experience from his life: in the fall of 1989, just before the political events that brought the socialist dictatorship to an end, he was photographed against his will hanging upside down. The accident occurred one morning at the school yard of the Art High School he just enrolled in. Some big boys were hanging around during the firs class of the day. Unfortunately Samuil was late for school and easily became a “trophy” to them. This picture they took is an object of a search in this advertisement titled: Searching for this Picture.
Part of the total print of this advertisement-page was also used as an appendix to the Culture newspaper, issue number 11 (2450) from March 21st, 2007 and to the Antimovski Han newspaper, issue number 4 (70), from April, 2007.
